About SupaSoft Insulation

How you can divert 12,000 plastic bottles from landfill this autumn and save money at the same time!

The answer is simple, rather than using standard fibreglass insulation, use SupaSoft insulation instead.   The race to find innovative ideas to the 12 million tonnes of plastic waste dumped into our oceans every year continues.  The makers of SupaSoft transform waste plastic bottles in soft, warm and safe fibres that can be turned into very effective loft insulation.

It takes an average of 12,000 waste plastic bottles to produce enough SupaSoft to insulate a typical loft.  That’s 12,000 plastic bottles that would otherwise have been buried in landfill, incinerated or left to litter the environment.

It’s difficult to imagine how something as hard and cold as a plastic bottle can be transformed into something as soft and warm as SupaSoft insulation.  The secret lies in duvets.   Duvets, pillows and jacket fillings are made from polyester also known as PET, the same material as plastic bottles.

Waste PET from bottles can be easily converted into the same polyester fibres used in a duvet so a waste bottle can be easily transformed into a form that is soft, safe and warm.  Because duvets and insulation work in the same way, what’s ideal for a duvet is ideal for insulation.

Manufactured in the UK, SupaSoft comes in easy to handle, multi roll packs.  The rolls can be easily installed by homeowners or by professionals.  SupaSoft comes in a range of thicknesses and widths designed to fill any space whether it’s to fully insulate a loft or as a top up for existing insulation.

The impact of us switching to recycled PET insulation would be enormous.  Insulating an average loft with SupaSoft means that approximately 12,000 bottles will be diverted from landfill.  Going one step further, insulating one million homes with SupaSoft would remove more than ten billion waste bottles from the environment.

“Our ultimate wish is for there to be no more single use plastic products and a more circular approach in general. However, what we need right now is a way of taking the current waste out of the environment for many decades and finding a use for it until there is a viable solution to the problem. Using waste PET as an insulation material helps achieve this” says Mark Lynn MD of Eden Renewable Innovations, the company behind SupaSoft.

SupaSoft insulation contains no added chemicals and is completely safe to handle and use.
